Official National Geographic Learning Series

English for Teenagers in Hong Kong | Ages 12–17

Berlitz Hong Kong offers dedicated English courses for teenagers aged 12 to 17, using two official National Geographic Learning series: Impact, Second Edition for all-round English development, and Great Writing, Fifth Edition for structured academic writing. Both programmes are taught by certified, experienced English instructors using the immersive Berlitz Method — where lessons are conducted entirely in English, creating genuine language immersion in a structured, age-appropriate environment designed specifically for secondary-school learners.
Impact is a six-level series that develops all four English skills — listening, speaking, reading, and writing — alongside grammar, vocabulary, critical thinking, and social communication skills. Using real National Geographic content and featuring real National Geographic Explorers, Impact connects English to topics teenagers genuinely care about: identity, the environment, global issues, and the future. Great Writing is a six-level academic writing series that takes teenagers from basic sentence construction to proficient essay writing, with targeted vocabulary instruction, sentence-level practice, and test preparation content for IELTS and TOEFL.

What Your Teen Will Develop

Speaking & Communication

Structured speaking activities every lesson — discussions, debates, presentations, and role plays. Speaking strategies are explicitly taught, not assumed.

Listening

Authentic NatGeo audio and video — documentaries, Explorer interviews, real conversations. Different accents and speeds.

Reading

Authentic NatGeo texts at progressively complex levels. Comprehension tasks build the academic reading skills secondary schools demand.

Writing

From structured paragraphs to extended essays. At higher levels, writing tasks mirror school assignments: reports, arguments, analysis.

21st Century Skills

Critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity developed through real-world projects and global issue exploration.

Qualified instructors who know how to teach children

Every Berlitz instructor is certified and trained in child pedagogy. They know how to keep young learners engaged, motivated, and progressing—not just entertained.

The Berlitz Method — structured immersion, not just games

We use a proven, immersive approach that builds real fluency. Your child learns to think in English, not translate from Chinese—setting them up for academic and professional success.

Our curriculum is built on National Geographic content—rich, engaging, and globally recognized. It complements what your child learns in school and prepares them for international exams.

Ability-based placement, not just age grouping

We assess your child's current level and place them in the right class—so they're challenged but never overwhelmed. Progress is measurable and consistent.

Small classes — your child is never lost in the crowd

With a maximum of 4 students per class, every child gets individual attention, speaking time, and feedback. No passive listening—just active learning.
